Remodeling questions? Anyone know?

Alright, well I'm upset with the look of our house and was thinking of remodeling. Nothing serious yet, so I don't want to go to a contracter just yet.

I wanted to get new flooring around the house, and to remodel the kitchen. New floors would be new carpet and tiling in the bathrooms, and then dark wooden floors for the kitchen.

For remodeling the kitchen, I just want to replace the counter-tops with granite ones and get shelving installed as well as new windows.

Does anyone have an estimate of what this would cost on average? And about how long it'd take? I know there are a ton of factors but if it helps I have a small U-shaped kitchen and my house is one floor and is fairly small. Just 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, with a living room and kitchen. No dining room or anything of the sort.

New flooring can range from $4 to $8 per square foot for wood or engineered wood, plus installation. Granite countertops might run about $1,500 to $2,500 depending on the grade of granite (some are more expensive than others) and the size of the space. Try Home Depot and Lowe’s for most of these products. Here’s a link to more remodeling costs:

Your carpeting you can expect about $3.50 per square foot, tile $9.00, and hardwood $8.00. Granite in your kitchen you are looking at $4000-5500. Windows about $500 per window for material, install, and new trim.
